In advance of the third 12” in their killer edits series, Touch Sensitive is delighted that the Black Bones production and DJ duo have carved up and reconfigured a track from Group Zero's 'Structures And Light' LP.
Initially, one of the album’s more inward looking tracks - glistening with “a gentle kind of cold wave optimism” - Black Bones rework “Pursuit” into a propulsive but out-there club cut.
“We wanted to lean the track more towards the club without losing it's essence. Familiar noises mixed with an unfamiliar end. A sort of lost on the dance floor fog at 5am when you should have really gone home a long time ago. The joy of being there slightly mixed with a melancholy that comes from knowing Monday comes too soon. That was the general vibe we were going for!”
The Black Bones story is born out of a shared obsession for crate digging and collecting weird and wonderful records from across the globe that spans decades and takes in various styles along the way.
The Black Bones edits label was launched at the beginning of 2017, with the first 12” selling out in less than 48 hours. The ongoing series sees them exhume forgotten musical gems and tastefully retouch them for today’s dance floors. The duo are currently working on their debut productions.
Group Zero is the solo, electronic project of Cathal Cully (Girls Names). Collected from four years worth of work, ’Structures and Light’ - released through Touch Sensitive in 2017 - is both a study in Cully’s DIY roots and a new beginning which tilts heavily towards the more open-eared and left of centre dance floors.
